In the late 1960’s, Patricia Docker, Jemima McDonald and Helen Puttock were brutally murdered in the heart of Glasgow after spending an evening at the infamous Barrowland Ballroom. Extensive police investigations led nowhere and over the next forty years the killer, who was known as ‘Bible John’ became part of the city’s mythology. Evading police capture for decades his identity remained a mystery.
In September 2006, the violent murder of twenty three year old Angelika Kluk shook Glasgow once again. Killed in the middle of ‘Bible John’ territory, Kluk’s killer did not evade capture; instead, within a matter of days, sixty year old convicted sex offender Peter Tobin was arrested in London and charged with her murder.
In 2007, whilst serving a life sentence, Tobin hit the headlines when he was charged with the murders of Vicky Hamilton and Dina McNichol, both missing since 1991. Their bodies were discovered by police in 50 Irvine Drive, Margate, where Tobin once lived. These subsequent convictions begged the question, how many more?
In their new true crime investigation, Sky News journalist Paul Harrison and leading Criminologist David Wilson examine Tobin’s violent past and explore Tobin’s boast that he has killed more women. They also look at the latest developments in DNA tests and numerous ‘cold cases’ which could be attributed to Tobin, providing a compelling argument that suggests that Tobin and Bible John are one and the same person.
Praise for HUNTING EVIL
‘This book is a bold attempt to present complex criminological arguments in an accessible form. Its success sets an important marker for public criminology and makes this a landmark achievement’
