Since his high profile departure from CNN, and then his exclusive first appearance on Bill O'Reilly's Factor over at Fox News, Lou Dobbs has done the rounds. Some of his appearances have included the Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Larry Kudlow's show on CNBC, the Today show and many, many more. But what is in store for the CNN stalwart who has left the network for the second time?
Well, he told Jon Stewart on the Daily Show;
"Jon Klein the president of CNN told me point blank that the network was going to move away from advocacy journalism that I practice and toward something he called 'middle of the road journalism,' which I tried. I'm not exactly neutral on a lot of issues and that wasn't working for me."
Okay, but that still leaves us non-the-wiser on what the old school television news crank is going to do. Of course in the middle of all this, a new name is being forged on the television news scene, that of John King, who told MarketWatch;
"I had and have a great relationship with Lou and wish him the best. I have to be me here. Lou passionately believed in advocacy journalism. I passionately believe in steering conversations, not shaping them. That makes us different -- doesn't make one right and one wrong."
On whether his magic-interactive-super-amazing-all-singing-all-dancing-funky-screen-thing will be making an appearance on his new show, he said;
"Of course it will, one of the things we think is very important is to use technology in ways to make information more accessible, understandable and interactive with our audience."
So, back to Dobbs, maybe he could run for president? Dobbs for president anyone? Well the man himself told Reuters, and Reuters man, Tim Gaynor wrote;
A week after abruptly quitting his longtime job as a CNN television news host and commentator, Lou Dobbs said on Thursday he is considering career options including possible runs for the White House or U.S. Senate.
Who knows.... watch this space. Personally, my money is on a move to the Fox Business Network, Dobbs is a superb economic commentator and business presenter, but a terrible politician.
We can but hope.
